Pascale and (insert name) sitting in the tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G, first comes love, then comes marriage and the baby carriage. It’s every girls (black or white) dream to fulfill this childhood song in their womanhood. However I urge you stop! While I can honestly blurt out "I's married now!" it isn’t to the obvious. Claiming that I's married now is recognizing that I've brought this holy matrimony before God and asked for his blessings, claiming that I's married now is to become comfortable with the idea that I must be submissive to my husband as he is the type who demands a lot of attention and will not have it any other way should this relationship work; and by God this relationship is going to work, divorce is not an option. You know what they say what woman will not keep her marital duties, another woman will...yeah well over my dead body! "Well who you's married to Pascale" you may ask. Well it’s not your ordinary being, well matter of fact, he isn’t human at all. I's married to my career! That’s right, my career!
Let me give you a brief history of how we came to be. He (my career, that is) sought me out throughout my four years of undergrad. Initially courtingMedical School , he watched from the sidelines as I was oblivious to his existence.
Once realizing that my heart didn’t necessarily skip a beat forMed School after my sophomore year, he subtly became present in my life during my junior year. Still not aware of his desire to become one with me, we were only friends. He only began to reveal himself to me towards the latter part of my senior year and once I landed a job with the Fla. Agency that regulates and licenses health care facilities in the state. Within a year and a half of working with the agency, the blinds were no longer present over my eyes and I realized his love for me and how a day without him present in my life would be miserable. He acknowledged this and asked me to marry him in September of 2009. We were legally married on July 31 of 2010 and or our church service/reception was held on August 19 of 2010. Yup, I's married to Public Health.
While now married to my career in Public Health, it isn’t your usual marriage, while I do consider myself Ms. Public Health; it will not be until the spring of 2012 that I will officially be recognized as Ms. Pascale (insert last name) M. PH. To be officially recognized as such, it’s going to take work as any other marriage, trust I've accepted that; so much so that my workout routine, eating, sleeping, and me time schedule is around his. Yea, I said he requires a lot of attention, which I’m ready to give him. While many may argue that he won’t physically keep me warm at night, that something that I’ve come to accept and am willing to sacrifice for now. Yes I may be tempted to talk to a chocolate covered brother, I'll always come to the realization that he would only be second to my career goals and would more or less serve as an unnecessary distraction; for I’m fully committed to my marriage to Public Health.
So without further ado, I present to you my marriage to the Masters in Public Health Program and ask that you respect that. He and I have the world at our feet and are ready to conquer it, together.
